Dear Music Fans,
You love music. I love music.
Is there something more you’d like to see on this music blog? I’d love to post even more than I already do.
Love,
Me

Witnessed the brilliance of The Temper Trap for the fourth time. Kinda cool that it was at a venue I worked backstage at a few times and made rad memories at.
Photo from my personal blog.
The El Rey welcomed PAPA and The Temper Trap to its stage.
PAPA was a decent band, but nothing too spectacular. The lead singer was also the drummer, which is a rare and very cool thing to see.
The Temper Trap gave an awesome performance that has been anticipated for a long time now. The band has been recording in Los Angeles the past two months and will be ready to release its new album in the spring and in the beginning of summer in the U.S..
Surprisingly, TTT played a great number of new songs and even chose its encore to be “Rabbit Hole,” which was recently released.
It might have been a little too many unknown songs for the crowd, but it was still an enjoyable sneak peek of what’s to come.
The older songs had the crowd grooving, clapping and cheering whenever the lead singer, Dougy, effortlessly reached out-of-this world notes with his voice.
Some may have thought that The Temper Trap went back into the shadows, but they are energized and ready reemerge.

Matias Mora has become one of my favorite people to watch on stage. He is such a ball of fire. Whenever I talk to him he continues to exert energy, excitement and an appreciation for the people around him.

Pop Blog
Pop Blog. That doesn’t mean I write about the latest trends in music or what plays repeatedly on the radio.
No, it’s something much more than that.
I run USC’s Pop Music Program tumblr where I feature students who have released EPs.
I also write recaps every Friday about the Pop Music Forum. Last week, Ken Scott, an engineer for The Beatles, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, etc came for a visit.
I love my job. Please follow my work!

New Music Video
Band: The Maine
Song: “Misery”
I am impressed by how much The Maine has changed over the years. As the members have matured, so has the band’s music, no matter how cliche that sounds.
Having lots of shadows and darkness was a nice touch. The build up to the end of the video was executed very well. Nothing about the scene was cheesy.
I really enjoyed it.

I'm the the official USC Pop Music Program blogger
So far I’ve written about Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) and Adam Blackstone’s visit to the Pop Music Forum.
Being in their presence was fantastic. I feel so fortunate to be able to write about such great people in the industry. Getting paid is just an added perk.
